About the test
1. What is the doctor looking for?
How the heart pumps under stress.
2. What is the test?
At rest, an ultrasound is done and the pictures are viewed. Next, you will be given a medication through an IV called Dobutamine. The medication will make your heart beat faster similar to exercise. Then, more pictures are taken and compared.
3. Where are the tests done?
In the Stress Lab.
4. May I eat or drink?
You need to stop eating and drinking 4 hours before the test.
5. What about medications?
You need to discuss your medications with your Doctor or Nurse. If you have any questions, please call your Doctor.
6. Will I have an IV?
Yes
7. Do I need special clothing?
No
8. What else should I bring?
Physician Request for exam.
Eyeglasses to read consent form.
9. How long does the test take?
Approximately 1 hour.
10. When will the results be ready?
The same day as the test.
