Emergency Cardiac Care...When Time is of the Essence - 60 sec
When treating a heart attack patient, time is of the essence.
Faster treatment means better odds of making a full recovery, without long-term damage to the most important muscle in the human body. Door-to-balloon time is the time between when a patient arrives at the Emergency Department until they receive the life-saving angioplasty and resume blood flow to the heart. Oakwood’s door-to-balloon time is, on average, about 55 minutes - well below the national average of 90 minutes. Thanks to the use of new technology that allows paramedics to transmit EKG information to a cardiologist’s smart phone, more lives are being saved than ever before. This is one more reason why Oakwood is metro Detroit’s leader in cardiac care.
