More and more, physicians and patients are asking themselves about whether annual routine tests and treatments are always necessary. Also, elective induction and Cesarean prior to a certain point in the pregnancy can put the baby and mother at unnecessary risk. To provide guidance to both the doctor and patient, The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists released its list of “Five Things Physicians and Patients Should Question” in obstetrics-gynecology. Dr. Daphne Tumaneng is an obstetrician and gynecologist based in Dearborn. She is also the medical director of labor and delivery at Oakwood Hospital & Medical Center and the associate director of Oakwood’s Obstetrics and Gynecology Education Program.
