Truvada HIV Prevention Drug
According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, more than 1.7 million Americans have been infected with HIV since the AIDS epidemic began in 1981, and approximately 50,000 people are infected each year. In July 2012, the FDA approved use of Truvada, the first drug approved for preventing HIV transmission, marking a major milestone in the fight against AIDS. Dr. James Sunstrum is on the line to talk about Truvada and HIV prevention. He is an Oakwood-affiliated infectious disease specialist with offices in Dearborn and Westland.
