Wine for the Spirit generates funds for stroke awareness, rehabilitation programs

The Oakwood Wine for the Spirit Fundraiser is 16 years old and still going strong.

Fredrick Junn, MD and a selected group of Oakwood Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Physicians proudly presented Oakwood’s 16th annual Wine for the Spirit fundraising event recently. More than 750 guests enjoyed this elegant evening at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Thanks to the support and generosity of many sponsors, this year’s event raised more than $440,000. Proceeds will benefit Oakwood’s Primary Stroke Center and stroke rehabilitation programs.

The strolling dinner and wine tasting event included a variety of wines from around the world, delicious food parings, the ever-popular Fine Wine Room, and an opportunity to tour the DIA’s spectacular art galleries and pose for a personal sketch at the hands of caricature artists. High level sponsors enjoyed the Bordeaux Benefactor Reception prior to the event, as well. The event featured three raffles, which generated about $9,000.

The Wine for the Spirit is one of the main fundraisers put on by the Oakwood Foundation every year. Since its inception, the annual event has generated more than $5.1 million to support crucial healthcare services for the communities Oakwood serves.
