Heritage Hospital receives performance excellence award

Oakwood Heritage Hospital (OHH) in Taylor has earned another feather for its cap.

Already recognized as among the best in the region by the U.S. News and World Report as well as having received the Gold Seal of Approval from The Joint Commission for its hip and knee Total Joint Replacement Program and a Top Improver award by Press Ganey Associates, Inc., the hospital now has the distinction of a PEAK Award for Performance Excellence from the Voluntary Hospitals of America (VHA) organization.

“Oakwood Heritage Hospital has always had a tradition of clinical excellence. This award is another demonstration of the team’s focus on the whole patient,” said Brian Connolly, President & CEO of Oakwood Healthcare, Inc. “The specialty programs at this campus really are unmatched in the region as you can see by this latest recognition of the team’s achievements in quality and patient satisfaction.”

The award is given to hospitals and healthcare organizations that sustain clinical excellence in performance. Winners are selected based on data submitted to the Centers For Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) who participate in the VHA Central Performance Improvement Initiative. OHH was recognized for performance across 10 (ten) key clinical measures ranging from antibiotic selection to post surgical care.

Kelly Smith, division president of Oakwood Heritage Hospital, said the award was indicative of the team approach to the patient’s care and overall experience.

“I am very proud of our quality results at Oakwood Heritage Hospital,” Smith said. “Our strong performance is a true reflection of our physicians, nurses, quality liaisons and other team members working together to achieve an exceptional patient experience and clinical outcome.”
