Oakwood Annapolis Imaging Services Department achieves accreditation

The Diagnostic Imaging Services Department at Oakwood Annapolis Hospital (OAH) in Wayne has achieved a new standard in excellence.

The department recently earned full accreditation from the American College of Radiology (ACR) in Ultrasound, MRI, CT, Nuclear Medicine and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) as a result of a recent survey by the ACR, according to Dawn Baker, Manager of Imaging Services at OAH.

“This is a direct reflection of the Imaging team and their commitment to quality and excellence,” said Dawn Baker. “It’s because of our technologists, along with drs. Venkat Rudraraju M.D., Chief of Radiology, Erika Luster M.D., Vice Chief of radiology and Ashok Jain M.D., Chief of Staff, all working together that we were able to accomplish this.”

"We are very proud of this tremendous accomplishment,” added Dr. Rudraraju. “It shows that our staff is recognized by industry experts as being experts in their craft. We have a deep foundation of skilled physicians and experts using the safest, most up-to-date equipment. It is a testament to the high quality care we offer each and every day."

The ACR is a national organization serving more than 32,000 diagnostic-interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine and medical physicists. The ACR accredits facilities in breast ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), mammography, nuclear medicine, PET, stereotactic breast biopsy, ultrasound and radiation oncology. Accreditation is based on an evaluation of the department by board-certified radiologists and medical physicists who are experts in the field. They also evaluate personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs.

“This recognition is the result of hard work and dedication to providing the highest level of service to the greater Wayne community,” said Eric Widner, division president of Oakwood Healthcare. “It shows that we continue to be committed to operating a high-quality medical facility that offers the best possible care to the community.”

Oakwood Imaging Services departments are staffed by experienced radiologists who are board-certified by the American College of Radiology (ACR), and fellowship trained in special areas such as neuroradiology, interventional radiology, breast imaging, nuclear medicine and musculoskeletal radiology. Our technologists are certified by their respective agencies including The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), The American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), and the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB).
