Oakwood Southshore Medical Center welcomes new surgeon, educator

The Oakwood Southshore Medical Center recently welcomed general surgeon Timothy M. Burandt, DO, FACOS, to its medical staff and the downriver community. Dr. Burandt has joined Allan Lamb, DO, to provide surgical consultation and care to patients in Trenton and the surrounding communities.

A highly-regarded board-certified general surgeon, Dr. Burandt has 25 years of practice experience in Cheboygan and Chelsea, Mich. He received his medical education at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine before completing a residency at Riverside Osteopathic Hospital in Trenton.

“I am thrilled to be returning to my roots, while continuing a patient-focused surgical practice,” Dr. Burandt said. “As part of the medical staff of Oakwood Southshore Medical Center, I have the opportunity not only to work alongside well-respected colleagues, but also to be a part of Oakwood’s strong network of primary and specialty care physicians.”

Dr. Burandt is also an associate clinical professor at Michigan State University and a member of the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery. He has particular interest in gallbladder and hernia surgery, in addition to a passion for training medical students, residents and surgeons.

“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Burandt,” said Edith Hughes, division president of Oakwood Southshore Medical Center. “He is an extremely well-qualified surgeon and educator. His extensive leadership experience on the local and national level will help make him a success with Oakwood.”
