Downriver-area Oakwood Healthcare Centers welcome family medicine physician


Newport, Mich. – Anna Hehl-Bisson, MD, a board-certified family medicine physician, has joined the staff at the Oakwood Healthcare Center – Newport and Oakwood Healthcare Center – Wyandotte.

“We are very excited about the addition of Dr. Hehl to our medical staff,” said Robert Sharon, MD, medical director of Oakwood Healthcare Center – Newport and Oakwood Healthcare Center – Wyandotte. “She not only has excellent clinical skills, but she demonstrates a genuine concern for the comfort of each patient. That is extremely valuable in a physician.”

Dr. Hehl-Bisson earned her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine and then went on to complete her residency at Oakwood Annapolis Hospital. Prior to attending medical school, she received a bachelor of science in biomedical sciences from Western Michigan University and an EMT certification from Henry Ford Community College.

A lifelong resident of Monroe County and a graduate of St. Mary Catholic Central High School, Dr. Hehl-Bisson has been very involved in the surrounding communities. From 2005 to 2006, she served as a volunteer for Code Blue, a Wayne State University student organization that places medical students in Detroit classrooms to provide health and safety education for children. She has also participated as a physician volunteer in Oakwood’s “Joint Class 101.” Dr. Hehl-Bisson is currently a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Michigan Academy of Family Physicians and the American Medical Association.
