Since President Lyndon Johnson signed Medicare legislation into law in 1965, the health insurance program has significantly improved the health of Americans over the age of 65. Medicare benefits continue to evolve to help the nation’s senior citizens stay healthy. In 2012, Medicare members became eligible for wellness visits so that patients and physicians can create a personalized plan to manage chronic health conditions and risk factors—and hopefully, avoid illness altogether.
