Chester - The Therapy Dog
Posted on 12/13/2012
Certified as a therapy dog by the American Kennel Club, Chester received his education from a local accredited trainer. He is one of Oakwood’s first therapy dogs to provide care in an outpatient setting. He holds office hours at Oakwood Healthcare Center – Wyandotte from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Chester’s passion for healing was unleashed when he was brought into the practice for the first time. After escaping from the office of Robert Sharon, MD, he immediately began interacting with patients. Since then, he has become very popular among patients and staff.
Chester was adopted from the Dearborn Animal Shelter by Dr. Sharon and Angela DeSantis, MD, after he made an appearance at the annual Black Tie & Tails fundraising event in 2011. His story will be featured at the event this year, highlighting his work as a therapy dog. Both Dr. Sharon and Dr. DeSantis are on staff at Oakwood Healthcare Center – Wyandotte.
