U.S. News ranks three out of four Oakwood hospitals as among the top in the region and state. OH-D, OH-S and OH-W were recognized based on their performance excellence against quality, safety and patient care in 16 specialty areas.


Patient Centered Medical Home designation
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) designated 74 Oakwood physicians as patient-centered medical home practices.


Gold Seal of Approval for total joint replacement
Oakwood Hospital - Taylor was awarded the Gold Seal of Approval from The Joint Commission for its hip and knee Total Joint Replacement Program.


Top Improver Award
The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of healthcare organizations in America, named Oakwood Hospital - Taylor as a national top performer on key quality measures for the second year running. OH-T earned the distinction based on heart attack, pneumonia, heart failure and surgical care.



Leading Practice recognition
Improvements in efficiencies at the Oakwood Surgery Center earned Oakwood Hospital - Wayne “Leading Practice” and “Success Story” distinctions from the VHA, a nation-wide organization of 1,400 not-for-profit hospitals and more than 24,000 non-acute care health care organizations.



  Most Wired Award
Oakwood Healthcare is one of only seven metro Detroit hospitals named as ‘Most Wired’ by Hospital and Health Networks Magazine. The list is based on the Most Wired survey and benchmarking study that asks hospitals and health systems around the nation about how they use information technology to address four key areas: infrastructure, business and administrative management, clinical quality and safety, and clinical integration.


Gift of Life
OH-D, a proud Gift of Life Michigan representative and the first hospital in Michigan to continuously fly the Donate Life flag to raise awareness for organ donation, has won the prestigious Medal of Honor granted by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services–for the fifth year in a row. Nationwide, 404 hospitals were recognized nationally for outstanding accomplishments in organ donation.



Diversity Council Honors Award
Association of Diversity Councils named the Oakwood Healthcare System Diversity Council as one of the top 25 diversity councils in the nation. Oakwood is the first healthcare system in Michigan to receive the award.
