From the moment of birth, we provide comprehensive care to more than 6,500 babies that are born within Oakwood each year. All newborn babies receive the individualized care they deserve, and their parents are offered the information and support they need to help them become capable and confident in caring for their children.
For newborns in need of specialized care, Oakwood Hospital - Dearborn offers a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) that is staffed 24 hours a day by on-site newborn intensive care specialists.
From toddlers to teens, more than 100 Oakwood-affiliated pediatricians and family practitioners are ready to provide your child with the latest health maintenance examinations and procedures, including all recommended screening tests, hearing and vision tests, and immunizations. Oakwood's Center for Exceptional Families is an interdisciplinary service that provides comprehensive, coordinated care to children of all ages with chronic, complex disorders. Patients include those with cerebral palsy, head and spinal cord trauma, genetic disorders (Down Syndrome), autism and many others. This award-winning program partners with local schools and community service agencies to ensure that all of the communities' resources are engaged to meet the individualized needs of each child and family.
Oakwood's Teen Centers address the special medical and psychosocial needs of adolescents. Through education and counseling, our programs can teach your children and your family to cope with the difficult issues faced during this important period of a family's life. Specialized social work and crisis intervention services are also available.
