This FREE community education class is led by Oakwood orthopedic specialists and will discuss the sources of pain and treatment options available - from self care to medicine, physical therapy to total joint replacement surgery.

Our philosophy is unique. We support our patients with a wealth of educational materials, classes and pathways  of care that enable you to determine how best to beat shoulder, hip or knee pain. Our emphasis is on Oakwood teamwork—from primary care physicians to therapists and specialists—working together to help YOU with your pain and to regain greater movement.

Oakwood Ortho University® is a program supported by a team of experts who will deliver outstanding care. Each member of the Oakwood Ortho University® multidisciplinary team has been selected for his or her exceptional abilities, positive attitude and outstanding motivational skills.

Oakwood Ortho University® offers a series of Joint Classes. Joint Class 101 is open to anyone interested in learning about joint pain, joint anatomy and the various treatment options available. Joint Class 201 is mandatory for patients who have already met with an orthopedic specialist and who are scheduled to have total joint replacement surgery. The class helps patients learn what to expect before, during and after their surgical procedure. It is offered on most Tuesday evenings throughout the year, and the class location rotates between the four Oakwood hospitals. You must call 800.543.WELL to register for Joint Class 201.

Directions to Joint Class 101

At OHMC enter the Fitzgerald Pavilion Parking Structure right off Oakwood Blvd. There will be a gate with a speaker box. Please press the button to inform Security and they will let you enter. There is plenty of parking in the evening on the first floor and/or an elevator if you decide to park up higher. Enter the hospital where there will be signs directing you down the hallway to Kalman Auditorium.
