Our program provides:

  • Compassionate and meaningful care
  • Structured, time-limited, group-oriented and intensive treatment in a structured outpatient setting
  • Intensive therapy with the goal of restoring function and coping skills, so that upon discharge from the program, the patient can effectively continue their treatment

While enrolled in the program, patients will receive:

  • Discharge planning
  • Psychiatric medications (if prescribed)
  • Group therapy
  • Recreational therapy
  • Leisure education
  • Educational sessions
  • Medication and nutrition groups
  • Grief counseling
  • Hot lunch
  • Special events such as barbeques
  • Stress management

How partial hospitalization can help
Oakwood’s experienced team of medical professionals helps patients cope with many mental health disorders/issues including:

  • Grief and loss
  • Anxiety / panic attacks
  • Depression
  • Sleep / appetite changes
  • Bi-polar disorders
  • Schizophrenia

Criteria for Admission

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Referral from psychiatrist or therapist

  • Ability to engage in therapeutic groups
  • Depression, anxiety and other symptoms interfering with functioning
  • Insurance or private payment verification
  • DSM IVR - diagnosis
  • Medically stable




Oakwood’s Partial Hospitalization Program is structured to meet the mental health needs of individuals in an acute crisis, providing an excellent “step down” or alternative to inpatient care. The patient continues to reside at home and commutes to Oakwood Hospital - Taylor. Transportation is available to Wayne County residents.
