Girl Scouts spread warmth and well wishes to Oakwood patients

Patients at Oakwood Annapolis Hospital had a special Valentine’s Day, courtesy of a group of thoughtful local girl scouts.

The girls, from troops 20445 and 20291, based at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wayne, created several dozen hand-made Valentine’s Day cards to donate to the hospital as part of a service project.

“We’re always looking for ways to reach out to the community,” said co-leader Emeshe Young. “This seemed like a natural connection.”

The girls used everything from crayons to markers, stickers and glitter to create their personalized get well wishes. They were delivered on Feb. 13, just in time for Valentine’s Day. It also took place during national Random Acts of Kindness Week.

“We were glad to help out, and the girls had a good time doing it,” said co-leader Elizabeth Andrews. “It was a great experience.”
