Oakwood welcomes new Oncologist

Oakwood Hospital &Medical Center has recently expanded its staff, with the addition of Mirna Farhat, MD, a physician who specializes in oncology and hematology.

A Dearborn resident, Dr. Farhat received her medical education at the American University of Beirut, completed her residency, internship and fellowship in Oncology and Hematology at Henry Ford Hospital. Dr. Farhat is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology, the American College of Physicians and the American Medical Association. She is well published and has presented her work both nationally and internationally.

Dr. Farhat believes treating patients with state-of- the art medicine along with kindness, respect and appreciation is key.

“Patients who are diagnosed with cancer are frequently anxious and frightened. They have debilitating symptoms and huge concerns about survival,” Dr. Farhat said. “I want to be able to make a tremendous difference in their lives and have the opportunity to provide them with treatment, hope and support as they go through the most difficult experience of their life.”

Dr. Farhat is fluent in Arabic and English. She is now accepting patients at 1611 Monroe in Dearborn and at 7105 Allen Road in Allen Park.
