The Nurse Extern Program has been designed to assist the nursing student to develop clinical, organizational, and critical thinking skills. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Nurse Extern is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs.
Eligibility
- Currently enrolled and attending a Nursing program
- Successfully completed one rotation of Medical/Surgical clinical
- Completion of Oakwood application/ Transfer Request form (employees only) including two letters of recommendation and Nursing school transcript
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
Units: Medical, Surgical, Critical Care, Rehabilitation, Mother-Baby (must have completed Obstetrical clinical rotation), Emergency and Float positions are available at specific sites.
