OHI Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer

Barbara is Senior Vice President, Oakwood Healthcare, Inc. and Chief Nursing Officer, Oakwood Healthcare System. In addition she also serves as Chief Nursing Officer for Oakwood’s tertiary medical center, Oakwood Hospital and Medical Center-Dearborn.

Barbara has a Masters of Science in Nursing and Business Administration Degree(s) from Madonna University, Livonia Michigan and a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from the University of Michigan.

Barbara is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (Rho chapter), and currently serves on the Oakwood Healthcare System Board and Quality Committee of the Board. She serves as President of the University of Michigan Alumni Board and serves on many College Board of Visitors. She is a member of the Michigan Center for Nursing Advisory Board and a member of the Michigan Organization of Nurse Executives.

Elaine began serving as the Clinical Director of Education in 2007.  She began as a staff nurse in 1978 at Oakwood Hospital and Medical Center in the IICU, then worked over 25 years in the PACU serving as Director and, later, as the Corporate Manager of Education and Quality for Surgical Services.

She has a Masters in Health Systems Management from University of Detroit Mercy and a Bachelors degree in Health Administration from Madonna University. Elaine is a member of the Michigan Organization of Nurse Executives, American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses, American PeriOperative Nurses and serves on the Baker College- Allen Park advisory board.  She is passionate about educating staff to grow their knowledge to better care for our patients and families.

Oakwood Annapolis Hospital, Director Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Executive

Diane is the Director of Patient Care Services/Chief Nursing Executive at Oakwood Annapolis Hospital.  She has been with the Oakwood Healthcare System for the past 5 years as a Clinical Manager, Assistant Director of Patient Services, and Director since July of 2007.

Diane has her Masters in Nursing Administration and a Bachelors of Science in Nursing.
She is a GE trained black belt in Six Sigma and is a Fellow with the Healthcare Advisory Board in Leadership. Diane is a member of the Michigan Organization of Nurse Executives and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She sits on the Corporate Professional Excellence Council and the advisory board for Eastern Michigan University School of Nursing.

Oakwood Physician Practices Division, Director Patient Care Services

Mary has occupied her current position since 2000, formerly entitled the Oakwood Ambulatory Division. She has been employed at Oakwood Healthcare System as an RN since July 1979 and previously as an LPN 1975-1979. Her career span includes Medical /Surgical, Intensive and Cardiac Critical Care, and concluded at Oakwood Hospital Medical Center -Dearborn in 1997 as the Emergency Department Educator, where she was employed for 14 years. Mary assumed the role of manager of the OHC-Canton facility in 1997-2000. She was appointed to her current Administrative role in 2000 and in July 2007 the newly restructured Oakwood Physician Practices Division.

Mary is a member of the American Association of Ambulatory Care Nursing, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Policy and Planning from University of Michigan, and a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration from Central Michigan University.

Kathie Krebs, RN, BSN

Oakwood Hospital and Medical Center - Director Patient Care Operations

Kathie is the Director of Patient Care Operations at Oakwood Hospital and Medical Center.  She has been an RN at Oakwood for 25 years and has progressively moved through nursing management positions, beginning with Assistant Clinical Manager. She was the Clinical Manager for two surgical nursing units for 15 years, and also managed the Infusion Clinicians for 5 years. Until recently, Kathie held the position of Assistant Director for Medical Surgical Nursing, from 2003-2007.

Kathie has a BSN from Madonna University, and is currently pursuing a Masters in Healthcare Administration from Central Michigan University.  In 2005 she received runner up recognition for the Nightingale Award for Nursing Excellence in Nursing Administration. She was also nominated for the 2005 Nursing Excellence Award for Leadership from Nursing Spectrum and is a member of the Michigan Organization for Nurse Executives. Kathie is committed to nursing excellence and improving nursing operations and work flow processes.

OHS Director for Nursing Excellence & Retention

Mary Jane is the Director for Nursing Excellence and Retention. In this expanded role Mary Jane will continue to lead quality and documentation initiatives in relation to the Magnet Hospital designation. She will also assume administration of the OSS, Central Staffing and Nurse Recruitment programs with the focus on retention of Oakwood team members. 

She holds a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Detroit/Mercy and Masters in Organizational Leadership and Administration from Concordia University. She is also a member of the Michigan Organization of Nursing Executives along with the American Organization of Nursing Executives and American Nurses Association.
Mary Jane is dedicated to the Profession of Nursing since 1975 and committed to nursing culture of excellence, the value of professionalism, quality outcomes and collaborative practice with patient/family centered care.

Joanne McKay, RN, MSN, CEN

OHS Administrator, Emergency Services

Since April 2005, Joanne has been the Administrator of Emergency Services for the Oakwood Healthcare System, working with the ED Managers and Site Leaders at all four acute care facilities and the Oakwood Canton freestanding ED. 

She began her healthcare career at Oakwood Annapolis Hospital in 1975 followed by leadership positions at several other major Detroit area hospitals. She worked at numerous hospitals in Texas and Illinois during and after graduate school studies, as well as serving as the Associate Executive Director of the Emergency Nurses Association and the Board of Certification for Emergency Nurses in Chicago, IL from 1984 to 1990.  Joanne started her own healthcare consulting firm in 1995 and worked nationally on ED process redesign, operational improvement and architectural redesign until 2005.  She returned to Oakwood Healthcare as a Contingent ED Staff RN at the Oakwood Canton facility from 2000 to 2005 while consulting.  

Joanne has a Masters degree in Emergency Nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and a Bachelor’s degree from Mercy College of Detroit. She is certified as an Emergency Nurse through the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing.  She is also a member of the Michigan Organization of Nurse Executives and the Emergency Nurses Association. 

Michele Cameron

Oakwood Heritage Hospital Director of Patient Care Services and Chief Nurse Executive

Michele is the Director of Patient Care Services and Chief Nurse Executive at Oakwood Heritage Hospital. Michele has been a registered nurse in clinical and leadership positions for over 20 years. She has worked for Oakwood in a variety of administrative positions for over 10 years, including a past role of Director of Patient Care Services for Oakwood Annapolis – Westland Center, in the 1990’s.

Michele holds a Bachelors Degree in Nursing from Eastern Michigan University, and is currently pursuing a Masters in Health Service Administration from Central Michigan University. She is a member of the Michigan Organization of Nurse Executives and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (Rho chapter). Michele believes that engaging nursing staff in self governance activity that is driven by evidence, and instilling the value of ownership, is the key to providing high quality and compassionate care to patients and their families.
