I am in a nursing program. What kinds of job opportunities are available?
At Oakwood Healthcare System, we provide three distinct and rewarding opportunities for nurses to explore (click title to view description):
- Must be currently enrolled in Nursing School or be a Certified Nursing Assistant.
- Must have completed one clinical rotation or be a certified nursing assistant.
- Units: All inpatient units - medical, surgical, critical care, maternal/child, emergency, float.
The Nurse Extern Program has been designed to assist the nursing student to develop clinical, organizational, and critical thinking skills. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Nurse Extern is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs.
- Currently enrolled and attending a Nursing program
- Successfully completed one rotation of Medical/Surgical clinical
- Completion of Oakwood application/ Transfer Request form (employees only) including two letters of recommendation and Nursing school transcript
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
Units: Medical, Surgical, Critical Care, Rehabilitation, Mother-Baby (must have completed Obstetrical clinical rotation), Emergency and Float positions are at specific sites.
