Oakwood’s mission to provide excellence in care healing and health to the individuals and communities we serve includes a deep and far reaching commitment that extends beyond hospital walls. While holding a strong reputation for providing high-quality patient-focused care, Oakwood isn’t in the sickness business; we’re in the wellness business. Our longstanding focus on wellness includes a 24-year strong demonstration of fitness and activity as part of a healthy lifestyle, the Oakwood Red October Run. Highlighted by a 10K run, 5K run, 5K walk and free one mile Junior October for kids, this event caters to participants from under 8 to over 80 years of age; from the first-time runner or walker to the very fast. Red October Run incorporates healthy displays and activities as part of race day festivities and further encourages fitness through targeted opportunities for local youth.
